Job description

Job Title: Packaging Machine OperatorJob Description

The Packaging Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors automated packaging equipment in a regulated cleanroom environment, ensuring products are filled, sealed, labeled, and documented accurately in accordance with SOPs, GMPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate packaging machines in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and production specifications.
  • Fill, secure, and label containers to meet company and customer requirements, ensuring accurate counts and proper packaging.
  • Follow written instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout the production process.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with GMPs, SOPs, FDA, and DEA requirements during all packaging activities.
  • Use computers to enter batch data accurately and operate computerized packaging machinery.
  • Load and feed bottles into the machine, monitor machine performance, and ensure it is running properly and efficiently.
  • Measure pills by length and width and verify bottle dimensions to confirm accuracy against specifications.
  • Verify that machine rails are set to the correct bottle width to ensure smooth and accurate bottle transfer.
  • Align the labeler for the correct bottle size and ensure labels are dispensed at the proper time when bottles pass under the sensor.
  • Set the height for the sealer and confirm that caps are sealed properly on all bottles.
  • Set up and adjust the capper for appropriate height, width, and rail size to achieve consistent capping quality.
  • Insert cotton into bottles as required by product and packaging specifications.
  • Transfer product from rework bottles into new bottles following established procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Disassemble machines and clean or clear the room at the end of production runs, including cleaning parts, mopping floors, cleaning windows and seals, wiping BH-38 conveyors with alcohol, and wiping down the machine with alcohol.
  • Work effectively in a cleanroom environment, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to all safety and quality protocols.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced, quality-focused production setting.
  • Perform minor mechanical adjustments or repairs on machines as needed to maintain proper operation.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of cleanroom PPE and specialized headgear, to ensure a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to speak and read English to follow safety instructions, SOPs, GMPs, and FDA regulations accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments on packaging machines.
  • Experience with machine operation in a production or cleanroom environment.
  • Comfort using computers to enter batch data and operate computerized packaging equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail when measuring pills and bottles and verifying machine settings.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and regulatory requirements consistently.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills and professionalism in a team-oriented setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.95/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
