Job description

Role Title

Computer Vision & Analytics Engineer

Team

Security Technology, GSIS (Global Safety, Intelligence & Security)

Location

Remote friendly / onsite, with travel as needed

Reports To

Security Technology Lead

Experience

~5โ€“10 years in computer vision, video analytics, or applied ML engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Computer Vision & Analytics Engineer to serve as the product owner and dedicated subject matter expert for the critical technologies that give the company the comprehensive ability to process, interpret, and extract actionable insights from complex visual data. This role will design and engineer the foundational platforms that ingest the high-volume data captured by our advanced computer vision systems and successfully turn raw visuals into quantitative, high-value actionable metrics.

The role is primarily focused on physical security video analytics, with GSIS (Global Safety, Intelligence & Security) serving as the platform's main subscriber and primary stakeholder. However, the underlying platform has real, proven potential to extend far beyond traditional security applications โ€” supporting workplace/facilities, culinary, and space & occupancy teams across the enterprise with computer vision-driven operational insight. A meaningful and vital part of this role is evangelizing the technology internally once its initial value is demonstrated within security operations, helping to build a compelling business case for broader adoption elsewhere in the company.

What You'll Do Own the computer vision & video analytics platform
  • Collaboratively establish the platform's technical direction, strategic priorities, and long-term roadmap alongside the Security Technology Lead.
  • Serve as the definitive subject matter expert and product owner for all video, image, and computer vision analytics solutions throughout GSIS.
  • Function as the chief technical authority regarding system capabilities, operational feasibility, and platform constraints.
Engineer the pipeline that turns visuals into metrics
  • Build the ingestion, inference, and transformation layers required to convert raw camera and video feeds into queryable, actionable information.
  • Architect and develop platforms and pipelines that process visual data (both image and video feeds) from computer vision systems into structured, quantitative metrics.
  • Guarantee the scalability, performance, and reliability of pipelines as visual data volumes and source systems expand.
Evaluate and integrate industry-leading CV/ML technology
  • Possess a strong track record of working with or contributing to the architecture of video analytics platforms (ranging from dominant industry players to emerging systems) that feature demonstrated machine learning and computer vision functionalities, alongside semantic and media search engines.
  • Assess novel ML, computer vision, and video/media search tools for prospective integration, balancing technical performance against security requirements and deployment overhead.
  • Provide strategic build-versus-buy guidance when introducing novel analytical features to the platform.
Expand the platform beyond security
  • Promote the platform's features internally after demonstrating success in GSIS, converting security applications into practical value propositions for other business units.
  • Evaluate and define opportunities for various client departmentsโ€”such as space & occupancy, culinary, and workplace/facilitiesโ€”to utilize computer vision for improving their operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with interested internal groups to test and integrate new functional use cases.
Partner across the security technology stack
  • Partner with the Security Technology Lead and the wider Security Technology team to ensure platform integration with current physical security infrastructure and cameras.
  • Collaborate with Network and IT teams to guarantee that all integrations and data pipelines align with clientโ€™s zero-trust network framework.
  • Provide comprehensive technical documentation regarding metric definitions, platform architecture, and data flows to assist cross-functional stakeholders.
What We're Looking For Required
  • Proven software engineering background in constructing data pipelines that transform visual data (video and images) into structured, quantitative metrics.
  • Robust scripting and programming skills, particularly in Python, for model integration, pipeline development, and automation tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience building or working with advanced video analytics platformsโ€”including established industry tools and emerging systemsโ€”equipped with computer vision, machine learning, and semantic or media search engines.
  • Track record of successfully integrating computer vision and video analytics solutions with physical security frameworks, such as VMS and camera platforms like Genetec, Axis, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise network architecture, with specific expertise in zero-trust and no-inbound design constraints as they relate to pipeline and platform development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex technical capabilities into clear value for non-technical stakeholders across various internal teams.
  • Ability to comfortably operate as the single-threaded owner for a growing platform, establishing structured processes and comprehensive documentation from scratch.
Nice to Have
  • Proficiency with video and media semantic search or retrieval tools.
  • Understanding of physical security or PSIM systems, such as Genetec, Axis, SureView, or similar platforms.
  • Proven capability to advocate for and scale technical platforms across diverse internal stakeholder groups.
  • Prior background working within high-growth technology firms or corporate security environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based machine learning/inference infrastructure and MLOps methodologies.
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
  • Successfully implement and deploy an operational computer vision and video analytics pipeline that processes live data from one or more production inputs to deliver actionable, quantitative metrics.
  • Establish comprehensive documentation detailing data lineage, platform architecture, and key metric definitions for immediate use by stakeholders within security operations.
  • Build initial alignment and initiate engagement for a pilot use case with at least one neighboring enterprise business unit, such as culinary, space & occupancy, or workplace and facilities.
  • Formulate and present a structured build-versus-buy assessment following an extensive market analysis of existing media search, semantic search, and industry CV/ML applications.
  • Develop a close, productive partnership with IT, network engineers, and the Security Technology Lead to effectively address infrastructure compatibility and strict compliance frameworks.
