Application Engineer
Compensation: $105,000-$130,000 Base Salary
Position Summary
A leading advanced technology organization is seeking an Application Engineer II to provide technical support, applications expertise, customer training, and field engineering support for semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment. This customer-facing role serves as a key liaison between customers, engineering teams, and service organizations to ensure successful installation, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of highly technical systems.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and engineering teams to diagnose product issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Provide application support for semiconductor inspection and metrology systems.
  • Gather customer feedback and communicate enhancement requests to software and engineering teams.
  • Develop and deliver customer training programs, technical documentation, application notes, and best-practice materials.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer evaluations.
  • Support sales activities by assisting with technical specifications, product requirements, and customer qualification processes.
  • Collaborate with Field Service Engineers to support equipment installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing customer operations.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and technical expertise.
  • Respond to customer service requests and provide technical support remotely and onsite.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, system inspections, and equipment performance evaluations.
  • Train customers on proper operation, maintenance, and best practices for supported systems.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate findings to internal teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university in one of the following:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Physics
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Materials Science
    • Related technical discipline
  • 2-5 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, Linux, and other engineering analysis tools.
  • Understanding of optics, wavelengths, and optical measurement systems.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as required within assigned territory.
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Ability to successfully pass background and drug screening requirements.
Technical Requirements

  • Knowledge of laser systems and robotics.
  • Previous experience supporting semiconductor inspection tools.
