Job description

Worldwide Oilfield Machine (WOM) is a globally recognized, multinational company that was established in 1980 with its headquarters based in Houston, Texas. With over 2,500 employees, the WOM group of companies is strategically located worldwide with manufacturing facilities, engineering centers, sales offices and assembly/testing workshops in Houston, Texas; Pune, India; Aberdeen, Scotland; Dubai, UAE; Seoul, South Korea; Jakarta, Indonesia; Ashgabat, Turkmenistan; and Singapore.


We are currently seeking a qualified Manual Lathe Machinist to join our team at the Canemont facility located in SW Houston. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating manual lathe machines to produce quality parts in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Removes and replaces dull cutting tools and attaches tools and work pieces to the lathe
  • Adjusts machine settings and controls as necessary when problems arise
  • Studies drawings and specifications to determine needed dimensions and tolerances
  • Understand feeds and speeds on different materials
  • Take first piece to inspection
  • Report any machine problems or non-conformance product to supervisor
  • Sign router on assigned sequence, mark or tag identification on all parts
  • Make sure all instruments being used are calibrated
  • Follow and comply with applicable work instructions
  • Perform in-process inspection of every part as per print
  • Keep machine and area clean
  • Know and understand Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the QMS
  • Comply with all health and safety rules
  • Ensures compliance and maintaining the processes/procedures of the WOM management systems, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety rules


Requirements:

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 7 years’ related experience in a machine shop operating manual machines.
  • 7 years’ experience in large valve machining, experience in machining Inconel inlays, threading/taper thread, must have tool


Abilities:

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to read measuring equipment
  • Must be able to read drawings
