Job Overview
Summary/General Description of Responsibilities:
Incumbent shall at no time be assigned or stand an engineer's watch. Repairs machinery or mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble; dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts; replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs; preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops; reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation.
Incumbent shall, also perform Electrician duties to include, but not limited to, the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician's hand tools, and measuring and testing instruments.
Pay Rate: $51.88
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Supports and assists other department staff and trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adheres to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
  • Ability to work a schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off.
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
  • Up to 25% Traveling

Preferred:
  • Trade certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry.
  • Competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
