Job description

W. H. Leary Company is searching for a Saw Operator to support our Machine Shop and operations. This role is a key contributor to the preparation, and movement of material and machined components, requiring strong attention to detail and collaboration across teams.

Your responsibilities as a Saw Operator include:

  • Calibrate and set up sawing machines for specific job orders, including the selection and installation of appropriate blades and attachments.
  • Position, secure, and mark materials on the machine to prepare for the cutting process.
  • Operate sawing equipment to cut various materials, monitoring the machine’s performance throughout the process.
  • Use measurement tools like calipers and micrometers to inspect finished pieces for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on saws, which includes cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components such as blades and belts.
  • File, grind, or smooth the rough edges and surfaces of cut pieces to meet finishing requirements.
  • Keep detailed records of daily production output and complete all required administrative paperwork.
