Job Description for: Fabrication Technician / Machine Shop Operator

Sid Harvey’s an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment and products is seeking a full-time employee for the Manufacturing Plant in Andrews, South Carolina. 

Location: Andrews, SC 
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:
 We are seeking a skilled and dependable Fabrication Technician to join our machine shop team. This role requires experience operating CNC plasma tables, performing manual machining, and aluminum welding. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.

Type of Work:
 Mix of production and custom fabrication, including plasma cutting, manual machining, and aluminum welding on light-duty assemblies. Fast-paced environment requiring consistency, accuracy, and the ability to handle repeat jobs while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain CNC plasma cutting table
  • Perform manual machining operations (lathe, mill, drilling, tapping)
  • Weld aluminum components (primarily MIG and/or TIG)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Set up fixtures and tooling as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with CNC plasma table operation
  • Strong manual machining skills (lathe and mill)
  • Aluminum welding experience (TIG preferred, MIG acceptable)
  • Ability to read blueprints and independently complete parts to spec
  • Proficient with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent productivity throughout the workday
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on shop environment
  • Able to troubleshoot setups, make minor adjustments, and keep jobs moving without constant supervision

Dealbreaker:
 Applicants must be able to independently set up, run, and complete parts to print without ongoing supervision—this is not a training position. Must be able to pass a drug test.

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Previous work in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with powder coating or finishing processes
