BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
  • High School Diploma
  • Shipyard or heavy manufacturing experience
  • Strong communication and accountability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Machine Shop Foreman (Machinist Foreman) oversees and coordinates all machinery department activities and provides leadership and direction to support more than 1,000 employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work.

  • Direct and oversee new construction and repair projects
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees
  • Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and performance reviews
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies
  • Coordinate purchasing of machinery parts and materials
  • Monitor progress, resolve issues, and manage budgets
  • Promote a professional and collaborative work environment
  • Directly manage 10-20 employees
  • Hire, train, and develop staff
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and accountability
  • Strong communication and leadership
  • Team building and collaboration
  • Process improvement and accountability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
  • 3+ years management and/or machinery background
  • Journeyman or equivalent certification

  • Familiarity with ABS, USCG, NEC, IEEE 45 standards
  • Prior experience with FBS
