Machinist/Programmer


Job Summary


We are looking for an experienced Machinist and CNC Programmer to work in the machine shop here at Thrush.

The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.

Report To

Operations Manager

Essential Job Functions

  • Must have a background and be proficient at CNC programming
  • Perform all CNC programming for both mill and lathe parts in the machine shop
  • Create program setup sheets and instructions
  • Aid in fixturing and work holding of parts for machining
  • Recommend tooling required to machine parts
  • Work on time saving/cost reduction projects to increase shop efficiency
  • Train others on CNC G-code programming and use of CAM software
  • Be a team player willing to be hands on with fellow employees on the shop floor
  • Be willing to operate a machine occasionally for prototyping activities
  • Assist leadership with the scheduling and maintenance of equipment
  • Have good foundation in metrology, measurement tools, and measurement of parts
  • Proven ability to create complex setups, programs, and operations for various mill and lathes.

Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience programming in a machining/manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience as a CNC programmer/machinist
  • Experience using and programming for various machines: CNC Vertical/Horiztonal machining centers both 3,4, and 5 axis, CNC turning centers with and without live tooling
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Organizational and leadership abilities
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office applications

Additional Desirable Experience

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field
  • 10 years machining experience
  • Manual machining experience
