Laborer / Shop Helper – Lockport, IL | $20.00/hr | 1st ShiftPosition Summary

We are seeking a reliable Laborer / Shop Helper to support daily production in a heavy‑duty machining job shop. This role assists machinists and machine operators, handles materials, operates basic shop equipment under supervision, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ideal for candidates with mechanical aptitude who want to grow in machining or manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Support — Assist machinists and machine operators with daily tasks in a busy machining facility.
  • Material Handling — Load and unload raw materials, parts, and finished products safely and efficiently.
  • Basic Equipment Operation — Operate presses, saws, pallet jacks, and forklifts under supervision.
  • Hand & Power Tools — Use grinders, sanders, and other tools for polishing, grinding, and general fabrication support.
  • General Shop Duties — Clean, organize, and maintain work areas to support efficient workflow.
  • Quality Checks — Inspect materials and finished products for defects to ensure quality standards.
  • Safety Compliance — Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a hazard‑free workspace.
  • Metal Handling — Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials as needed.
