Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for program, set-up and operate CNC Lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to specifications.

The CNC Lathe Machinist will read and interpret technical drawings, program the machines, and ensure that all products meet stringent quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced job shop environment.

Essential Duties:

• Programming: Write and modify CNC programs as needed using G-code or Mazatrol style programming, ensuring accurate and efficient machining processes.

• Setup: Set up CNC lathe machines, including installing and aligning workpieces, selecting and installing tools, and setting machine controls.

• Machine Operation: Operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts in accordance with work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.

• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances.

• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn tools to ensure optimal machine performance.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with machines or parts, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to maintain production quality.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine settings, and any adjustments made during the machining process.

• Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to optimize machining processes and improve production efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical training program is preferred.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in CNC machine operation and programming, with strong knowledge of G-code and Mazatrol programming. 

o Mazatrol is strongly preferred.

• Precision: Excellent understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
