Job description

Our client, a growing manufacturing company located in the western suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment throughout the facility. Your work will be critical in minimizing downtime, supporting production schedules, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment and a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.

Location: Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay rate: $37.50/hr.
Shift:  2nd shift –2:30pm – 11:00pm


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical components, machinery, and production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using inspections, testing equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Repair or replace defective machine components using hand and power tools.
  • Dismantle machinery using hoists, cranes, and other equipment to access and replace damaged components.
  • Inspect machinery and communicate equipment or safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Monitor and coordinate work performed by outside contractors and service providers.
  • Order repair parts, maintain critical spare parts inventory, and assist with purchasing.
  • Train and mentor Maintenance Apprentices as needed.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement and safety initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with welding, metal fabrication, and metal cutting processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience working with commercial electrical systems, compressed air systems, and water distribution systems.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours as business needs require.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to provide personal hand tools and measuring instruments over time.
