As a Machine Operator Specialist you’ll have the opportunity to use your mechanical skills to play a crucial role on our manufacturing team – and you’ll only work 3-4 days per week!

A bit about the role:   

We only work 3-4 days a week! Our facilities operate four different schedules consisting of 12-hour shifts. We are currently hiring for the following shifts:

  • 2nd Shift: Mon – Wed (+ Thursdays during peak season), 5pm – 5am (+$1/hr. shift diff.) 
  • 3rd shift: Fri – Sun (+ Thursdays during peak season), 5am – 5pm (+$1/hr. shift diff.)  
  • 4th Shift: Fri – Sun (+ Thursdays during peak season), 5pm – 5am (+$2/hr. shift diff)

What You’ll Do Here:   
  • Operate and Maintain Advanced Equipment: Expertly manage a variety of advanced equipment including but not limited to digital presses, bindery equipment, HP Indigo, HP Inkjet Web Press T485, Xerox iGen, Epson, Lasermax, UV Coaters, and other specialized machinery.
  • Perform Advanced Maintenance: Conduct comprehensive routine and preventive maintenance, including intricate troubleshooting to uphold the highest quality standards and ensure equipment is always in optimal working condition.
  • Proactively Address Issues: Identify and make necessary adjustments, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel when required.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Effectively interact with supervisors, technical support, and other team members to ensure seamless operations and swift resolution of issues.
  • Serve as Equipment Owner: Provide technical support, perform pit stops, and carry out preventative maintenance unassisted.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide training and mentorship to Machine Operators to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Critical Issue Escalation: Escalate critical equipment issues and collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop solutions.
  • Operational Versatility: Operate bindery, finishing, and other production equipment, and fill in for Lead Operators as needed.
  • Safety Committee Participation: Actively participate in the Safety Committee to promote and maintain workplace safety standards.
  • Implement Best Practices: Develop and implement operational procedures to optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety and OSHA standards, maintaining confidentiality and complying with the company’s security policies concerning sensitive information.
The Skills You'll Bring:     
  • Extensive Experience: 7+ years of experience or equivalent experience operating high-speed machinery in high-volume, repetitive manufacturing.
  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of digital printing and bindery processes, and a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the machinery used.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting Skills: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues with minimal downtime. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues as well as perform and document routine preventative maintenance unassisted.
  • Technical Principles: Experience with principles of pneumatics, mechanical systems, PLC, ACDC drives, multimeter basics, basic electricity & electronics, and Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with a methodical, procedure-oriented approach to tasks and affinity for quality control purposes.
  • Quality and Customer Focus: Quality-minded and customer-focused to ensure the production of high-quality products. Ability to match or detect subtle differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
  • Versatility and Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and maintain mobility to crouch, kneel, reach, bend, and perform repetitive actions with hands and arms. Willingness and ability to work across various Production Departments on the Manufacturing floor as business needs dictate.
  • Preferred Skills: Proficiency in operating bindery and finishing equipment (including Muller Martini) and digital print/press equipment (including HP Indigo).
