Job Function
  • Always work safely while processing material per shop orders and customer requirements
  • Direct setup and helper personnel as needed and coordinate coil staging with crane operators
  • Complete all required documentation, including shop orders, Slitter/CTL shift reports, and inspection sheets
  • Use required tools and equipment, including measuring instruments (tape measure, vernier, micrometer) and production equipment (uncoiler, slitter head, crop shear, recoiler, tension stand, and related systems)
  • Set up and start jobs by:
    • Reviewing shop orders and verifying coil information
    • Preplanning work and ensuring materials and personnel are ready
    • Inspecting coils for damage, rust, and proper specifications
    • Measuring and recording coil width and notifying CSR if out of spec
  • Operate and monitor equipment throughout the process, including:
    • Feeding material through equipment and adjusting components
    • Inspecting surface defects and verifying tolerances
    • Monitoring alignment, tension, and buildup on recoiler
    • Recording measurements and notifying CSR of issues
  • Run material to completion per shop order requirements, assist team members as needed, and perform break, tape, and offloading functions
  • Communicate with crane operators to prevent line backup and ensure continuous production flow
  • Maintain accurate records and complete all required forms during and after production
  • Monitor inventory of supplies (forms, tape, cores) and report low levels to the Plant Manager
  • Maintain clean and organized work area and ensure good housekeeping practices
