Machine Operator I - General Products - Dept. # 3721 - 1st Shift

Job Summary:

A Machine Operator performs manual and machine operation of various types of production equipment such as filling various components or containers, batching, labeling, machining, sorting, inspecting, and packaging.  Also includes responsibility for monitoring and assuring the quality of product, making simple machine adjustments, keeping equipment in good working order, frequent cleaning of equipment and work area, and counting and recording of production units and labor time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow machine start-up and shutdown procedure.  Must ensure on-time setup and start-up at the beginning of each shift.
  • Able to operate machine controls and all applicable adjustments in a timely and correct manner.
  • Must be able to consistently meet daily output goals.
  • Perform accurate and neat documentation on daily hour output sheets and all quality documents, error-free.
  • Understands the need for urgency in keeping machine downtime to a minimum.
  • understands and follows proper basic troubleshooting to keep the machine running efficiently.
  • Able to perform full changeovers for designated machines (some may require maintenance/Utility assistance), however Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring changeovers are conducted within specified times.
  • Follow applicable work instructions and SOPs.
  • Keeps the area on and around the machine neat, clean, and organized always.
  • Accurately follows quality control inspection points.
  • Submits timely work orders for any malfunction impacting machine uptime, assists mechanics as needed to adjust and repair.
  • Follows all established company policies with minimal supervision.
  • Follows all established health and safety policies with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate with supervisors, leaders, quality, and maintenance regarding matters of quality, safety, and machine efficiency.
  • Knowledge of GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Tiromat

Prosys

RCM

Digit Filler

Varnish Filler

Others per Senior Management discretion

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred

Certifications/Licensing:

  • N/A

Years and Type of Experience:

  • More than 2 years of production experience preferred.

Key Required Skills, Knowledge, and Capabilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, written in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, metric measurement, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The associate must be very detail-oriented.
  • The associate may be cross-trained to perform other duties within the department or as needed.
