Job description

We are looking for a talented Material Handler / Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) Operator to join our team specializing in Shop for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:  

  • Efficient Handling and Storage: By accurately receiving, sorting, labeling, and storing goods, you will optimize warehouse space and ensure smooth operations. 

  • Timely Dispatch: Picking, packing, and dispatching outgoing goods according to requests will help meet customer expectations and maintain workflow efficiency. 

  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and using appropriate personal protective equipment will promote a safe working environment. 

  • Quality Assurance: Performing quality checks and identifying non-conforming materials will help maintain high standards and minimize cost and quality issues. 

  • Equipment Operation: Operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery safely and efficiently will contribute to the overall productivity of the warehouse. 

  • Environmental Responsibility: Recognizing and minimizing the environmental impact of your work will support the company's sustainability goals. 

  • Team Collaboration: Communicating effectively with your team and participating in training and improvement initiatives will foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent experience operating powered industrial vehicles is REQUIRED.
  • Candidates MUST have experience operating all of the following:
    • Stand-Up Forklift
    • Sit-Down Forklift
    • Tugger
  • This experience requirement is mandatory and will not be waived.
  • Proven ability to safely operate PIV equipment in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of productivity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Must be dependable with excellent attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using handheld RF scanners or warehouse management systems.
  • Previous material flow, line stocking, or logistics experience.
  • Current or previous forklift certification is preferred; however, certification will be verified or renewed upon hire if applicable.
