Job description

Lapeer area high precision, high volume machining company is looking for experience Tornos Machine Operators to join their team. This is an automotive parts manufacturing facility. 1st and 2nd Shift available. Pay is based on experience, $16-$18 per hour. Candidates must submit an up-to-date resume to be considered. 1st Shift 5:30AM - 4:00PM and Second Shift 4:30PM- 3:00AM. All candidates must be willing to work mandatory overtime on the weekends.

Job Description:
Operation of an Tornos machine is an asset. Previous machine experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment is required. This position requires mechanical aptitude and ability to do math, measurements and use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers). Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be looking for long-term work.
Job Responsibilities Requirements:
  1. Previous experience with Tornos or other lathes used for manufacturing metal parts preferred. This is a very fast-paced position with ability to multi-task machine operation.
2. Measure dimensions of finished work to ensure specifications are met.
3. Loads material into machine.
4. High level of quality control.
5. Must have excellent attendance.
6. Must have some long-term previous work history.
7. Must be able to work overtime.
8. Must be able to stand at workstations for 10-12 hours if necessary.
9. Some lifting may be required.

Skills and Competency:
• Set up and operate a machine in order to make metal parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery.
• Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces using precision instruments.
• Mount, align and secure work pieces on machines using hand tools.
• Maintain highest level of quality.
• Other duties as assigned.
