Job description

HiFyve is hiring a Machine Operator

Pay:

$19-23/hr entry level

$23-30/hr experience

Shift: 2nd Shift – 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday–Thursday

Location: Kansas City, KS

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor a flexographic printing press equipment used in packaging production
  • Read job tickets and prepare required materials, including inks, plates, substrates, and packaging components for production runs
  • Perform machine setups, adjustments, calibrations, and changeovers to meet production specifications
  • Adjust machine settings for proper tension, registration, pressure, alignment and bonding
  • Monitor production quality throughout each run by inspecting for defects, verifying print quality, color consistency, and product specifications
  • Perform color checks and quality inspections using measurement tools as required
  • Mix inks, mount printing plates, and manage production materials and consumable inventory
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and inspections on production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and machine logs
  • Follow all company safety procedures, manufacturing standards, and applicable food safety/hygiene requirements
  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, or safety concerns promptly
  • Work closely with maintenance and production teams to improve machine efficiency and reduce downtime

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, printing, graphic arts, or related fields is a plus
  • Previous experience operating packaging machinery, flexographic printing presses, or similar production equipment preferred
  • 1–3 years of machine operation experience preferred for higher pay consideration

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience operating industrial manufacturing or packaging equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to perform machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers
  • Understanding of quality control processes and production standards
  • Good color vision and attention to detail
  • Basic math and measurement skills (metric and imperial)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
