What’s a typical day as a Machine Operator/Machinist? You’ll be:
  • Setting up and operating machinery to cut, shape, or finish metal parts using sketches, prints, or instruction manuals.
  • Working with CNC or manual machines to produce precise components, often requiring loading or adjusting programs, changing tooling, and measuring parts to meet exact specifications and tolerances.
  • Inspecting parts visually and dimensionally to ensure conformance to requirements and making real-time adjustments to achieve consistent quality and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting simple manufacturing problems in a timely manner.
  • Cleaning and maintaining machines, changing tooling, and monitoring calibration records.
