EMPIRE BAKERY COMMISSARY, LLC POSITION DESCRIPTION

:JOB TITLE:  Machine Operator

LOCATION: 515 Weaver St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151
DEPARTMENT: Production

SCHEDULE:   7:00AM-5:30PM M-F

REPORTS TO: Production Floor Supervisors

PAY RATE:  $20 - $23/HOUR - DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

POSITION SUMARY

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating automated and semi-automated cake decorating equipment to produce high-quality decorated cakes according to production schedules and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, adherence to food safety guidelines, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Operate cake decorating machinery, including icing depositors, rosettes applicators, piping systems, sprinkles dispensers, and other specialized equipment.

· Set up machines at the start of each shift, ensuring correct settings for the product being produced (speed, pressure, icing consistency, decoration style).

· Monitor production runs to ensure products meet visual and quality specifications (icing coverage, design accuracy, portion size, color match).

· Adjust machine settings to correct any quality deviations or mechanical issues.

· Perform regular cleaning and sanitation of equipment in compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, GMPs).

· Conduct minor maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery to minimize downtime.

· Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Assist with changeovers between product types, flavors, and decoration patterns.

· Collaborate with QA, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues quickly.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area.

· Follow written Standard Operating Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Proficiency in English (spoken and written) required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

· Previous experience in food manufacturing or cake decorating machinery operation is an asset, but not required.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with moving machinery.

· Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

· Ability to work in a cool, fast-paced production environment.

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime if required.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
