Job description

We are seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team in Greenville, NC. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating a Trackhoe to safely and efficiently support construction activities, while maintaining a strong focus on detail, safety, and teamwork to meet project goals.

This opportunity supports three active projects on a college campus, with additional work expected—providing steady work and strong continuity. (Per diem is available at $100/day for qualified candidates who meet all requirements)

Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various equipment such as Backhoe, Trackhoe, Skid Steer, Excavator, Dozer, and other miscellaneous equipment. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation, safety, and maintenance of the equipment being operated. Must possess the ability to safely operate equipment in the presence of field crew members and utilities, ensuring the safety of all persons, equipment, property, and utilities in the area. Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and reporting any violations to field supervision immediately

  • Equipment Maintenance - Ensure that all equipment, vehicles, and tools are properly accounted for, used for correct purpose and are maintained.
  • Other – Serves as backup to other positions at the direction of management; and other duties as assigned.

Qualification Standards:

  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience excavating near underground utilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Interaction with Others (Internal/Organizational and External/Customer Contact)
  • Some contact with others, including organization personnel and general public. Purpose of contact is to provide or obtain explanation or interpretation of information.
  • Requires normal courteous interaction and basic interpersonal skills and tact to communicate with others. Non-routine inquiries and/or complaints are referred to others. Other limited external contact may be required to obtain information and/or to make inquiries of others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
