Position Summary:
The Sawyer is responsible for cutting raw materials according to production specifications, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality throughout the process. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to company safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate saws and cutting equipment to prepare materials per work orders and drawings.
  • Measure, mark, and cut steel, aluminum, or other materials to precise dimensions.
  • Review production schedules, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements.
  • Inspect materials before and after cutting for defects, correct length, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials cut, scrap, and completed work.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saws and work areas.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding production needs or equipment issues.
  • Assist in material handling, inventory organization, and general shop duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of experience operating industrial saws or similar machinery (preferred).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
