Job description

Micron Solutions is a multifaceted contract manufacturing organization specializing in thermoplastic injection molding, precision machining and finishing, and silver-plated medical sensors for disposable electrodes. We partner with companies of all sizes to deliver manufacturing and assembly solutions that support their success. Our 120,000-square-foot facility in Fitchburg, MA supports projects from concept through commercialization.

The Molding Operator Lead supports daily operations within the Injection Molding Department by coordinating operator assignments, ensuring product quality, meeting production schedules, and following customer and company requirements. This position performs all duties of Level 1 and Level 2 Molding Operators while serving as a resource for operators and assisting with training and production support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Level 1 and Level 2 Molding Operator.
  • Assign operators to machines and workstations based on production needs.
  • Support daily production activities and work with the Supervisor to meet production goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of molding processes, products, and machine operations within the department.
  • Monitor production to ensure compliance with quality standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections and ensure operators complete required quality checks and documentation.
  • Perform routine product testing and quality verification as required.
  • Monitor machine performance and respond appropriately to production issues, alarms, and quality concerns.
  • Escalate equipment, process, or quality issues to the Process Technician or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Ensure production records, shop orders, and cGDP documentation are completed accurately.
  • Use the IQMS/ERP system to record labor, production data, and inventory transactions.
  • Verify labels are accurate and properly scanned to maintain traceability and inventory accuracy.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to operators on the production floor.
  • Train new and existing employees on work instructions, quality requirements, documentation, and safe work practices.
  • Ensure employees are informed and trained on revisions to products, processes, and work instructions.
  • Support sensor molding operations by monitoring machine performance, documentation, and quality checks.
  • Follow and promote company quality policies and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and ensure proper use of PPE.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production and quality issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and quality documents.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbal instructions effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate work assignments.
  • Basic computer skills, including ERP data entry.
  • Experience using testing equipment, measuring devices, and inspection tools.
  • Ability to monitor machine performance and recognize issues requiring escalation.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of documentation requirements, including GMP/cGDP practices.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 quality systems preferred.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of injection molding or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Lead, trainer, or mentoring experience preferred.
