Description

Frederick Foot & Ankle is seeking a Maryland-registered Limited X-Ray Machine Operator or Medical Assistant with LXMO registration. The position includes performing digital foot and ankle radiographs, rooming patients, documenting histories, assisting physicians, and general clinical duties. Monday-Friday outpatient schedule with no hospital call.
 

The Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician assists the provider with coordinating patient care, and acts as a liaison between patients, providers and other staff. It is essential that the Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician be able to control patient flow for the assigned provider and effectively communicate with peers, providers and supervisors. The Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician must have the ability to function in a fast-paced clinic environment. 


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures on selected anatomical sites within a limited scope
  2. Prepare patients for exams and explain procedures to them
  3. Follow strict guidelines about usage of radiographic equipment
  4. Complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations and maintains confidentiality of patients and operations of Frederick Foot and Ankle Specialists.
  5. Follows all protocol guidelines.
  6. Obtains chief complaint, accurate vitals and key into EMR accordingly. 
  7. Ability to assist with casting, measuring for DME, vitals.
  8. Responsible for cleaning and stocking patient exam rooms daily and opening and closing duties as assigned. 
  9. Assist provider with procedures, discharge instructions and patient education.
  10. Prioritizes patient's communications according to medical need and urgency.
  11. Prepare surgery instrument packets and trays.
  12. Clean, lube instruments and prep packets for autoclave. 
  13. Educate patient on DME/store items.
  14. Prepare any referrals for outside therapies (PT, wound care, etc.)
  15. Assist with patient care in other areas as needed.  
  16. Arrives to work prepared as scheduled.
  17. Adhere to safety policies and procedures, while maintaining an overall awareness of safety within the workplace.
  18. Demonstrate good housekeeping attitudes and practices.
  19. Demonstrate effort to conserve materials. 
  20. Attend all meetings as required.
  21. Offer suggestions for operational or product improvement. 
  22. Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must meet state limited x-ray machine operator requirements for location of practice (Maryland Board of Physicians-registered LXMO)
  • Limited x-ray machine operators must have excellent communication skills in order to elicit patient data and explain radiologic procedures
  • Maintaining certification through CEU's
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience strongly preferred
  • Varied activities including, but not limited to, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping. This requires full range of body motion for handling patients, hand-eye coordination, and finger dexterity. Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • This position entails a combination of office and exam and other clinical settings. There is frequent exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparation, and other conditions common to clinic situations.
