Description:

Job Summary:

Provide layout information from CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for new machine start-ups, capability studies and any other cause for coordinate layout. To provide necessary support for the Company’s Quality objective. The Quality Technician creates manual CMM programs for jobs as required and plate layout of parts, tools and gages as well as analyzing CMM reports to support Manufacturing and other departments’ personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform any layout requirements
  • Must be familiar with blueprint reading
  • Must be familiar with geometric dimension and tolerance.
  • Must be able to start, run all CMMs in plant
  • Must be able to assist troubleshooting machining issues with layout data
  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
  • Daily checks of all production machining on CMM and any additional gages calibrations required
  • Read blueprints and correlate dimensions to CMM report
  • Review reports with the cell leaders and set up team
  • Inform cell leader and set up team which direction to move features on part to achieve nominal specification on part print
  • Conduct capability studies on CMM and with hand gauges
  • Perform 100% dimensional Layouts to part prints
  • Conduct gage R&R studies and perform gage calibrations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Quality Manager and Management team
Requirements:

Academic Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T

Required Skills & Experience

Demonstrated communication skills, relationship building, and strong interpersonal capabilities

How to talk to supervisors, set-up operators, machine programmers, and operators when issues arise.

Job prioritization and time management.

Basic computer literacy

Basic math and business writing skills

Ability to learn new programs, activities and tasks
