CHS Inc is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Operator to join our team in Annawan, IL! Daily you will support logistics, grain handling operations, loading/unloading functions and machine operation. In this role, you will independently manage these receiving activities via truck, railcars, trailers, and shipping containers, while ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers a 5/2 & 2/5 rotating work schedule from 6:30a-6:30p. Apply today and learn more!
Responsibilities
  • Independently perform all job functions within the Shipping & Receiving area including loading/unloading trailers, shipping containers, and railcars. Initiating loadout orders and completing documentation.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping loading and unloading area neat/clean and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Responsible for housekeeping, sanitation schedule, and general appearance of the assigned work area.
  • Working in an outdoor based environment including all weather conditions, year-round. Wearing flame-resistant and HI-VIZ clothing in respected areas.
  • Working at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting grain handling equipment including conveyors, elevators, gates, and loaders.
  • Assist in training new employees and working in a team environment.
  • Complete shipping, receiving and inspection documents neatly and accurately to comply with all EPA, USDA, FRA, and DOT HAZMAT regulations.
  • Operate equipment for loading and unloading. This includes operating an end loader, switching locomotive, forklift, and skid loader.
  • Conduct truck and railcar inspections prior to loading with product.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and assist maintenance technicians as needed.
  • Follow all plant and food safety rules and procedures.
  • Successfully complete initial, ongoing, and supplemental training, including DOT HAZMAT and railroad specific training.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Production Operations
  • Must meet minimum age requirement

Additional Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time, as well as in confined spaces and in hazardous environments.
  • Ability to spend long periods of time being on your feet including walking, standing and climbing steps and ladders, and work at heights up to 120 ft.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear all required protective equipment which may include respirators, hard hats, and eye and hearing protection.
  • Ability to use both automated and manual tools and equipment.
  • Ability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Ability to work in noisy ,dusty, and all weather conditions
