Job description

Starting Pay: $18.00 hour
The Role: Food Plant Operator II's are responsible for supporting the bakery, fresh, and frozen assembly lines through delivery/preparation of raw materials, operating food plant machinery, and record keeping.This role requires a significant amount of movement to meet production rates. An individual in this role will be working with various types of food. The position will require general physical movements such as frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 40 Lbs. & occasionally over 40 lbs.) bending, twisting, and reaching. There are multiple specializations of Food Plant Operator 2, from driving a Forklift to deliver materials, performing inventory of materials, prepping materials, or running food plant equipment.
Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional weekends

Job Duties/Responsibilities (all specializations):
  • Follow all Safety and Food Safety/Quality standards.
  • Follow all written policies, including recipes and standard operating procedures.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions and be able to communicate with team members.
  • Adhere to high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Diligent record keeping and data entry of processes and materials, both on hard copy documents and in computer systems.
  • Use Bartender program and a label printer to make labels.
  • Ensure the correct materials are used for specific product ranges and to company standards.
  • Report faulty packaging or problems on the machines to management.
  • Work efficiently and accurately.
  • The ability to implement and recommend solutions as needed.
  • Perform other duties and work in other areas as assigned.

In addition to those responsibilities listed above, the different specializations of Food Plant Operator 2 have the following:
  • Fresh Prep Operator 2:
    • Transform raw food/packaging ingredients into workable resources for the assembly team with use of various tools and equipment to handle, mix, rework, and prepare materials.
    • Maintain inventory accuracy by weighing materials before and after production and documenting the results and performing consumptions and outputs in the computer system.
    • Maintain prepped inventory in the walk-in refrigerators and assist with planning for the next day.
  • Production Operator 2:
    • Operate the machinery used for packaging and labeling products in the Production area daily.
    • Start up and stop the machine as necessary, including refilling packaging material and labels.
    • Perform routine checks to ensure that the machine is operational.
    • Be able to troubleshoot minor issues with equipment.
    • Inspect final products for quality and accuracy.
  • Receiving Operator 2:
    • Receive, stage, and put away materials utilizing a forklift.
    • Provide forklift support as needed.
    • Use scan gun and computer applications to make inventory movements in the ERP system.
  • Inventory Operator 2:
    • performing inventory, cycle counts, and adjustments
    • coordinate movements of inventory in the ERP system (orders from the warehouse, finished goods sold back to the warehouse, etc.)
    • close out material usages and production inventories in the ERP system
    • Use scan gun and computer applications to make inventory movements in the ERP system.
    • Maintain accuracy of the Food Plant inventory
    • Order materials from the warehouse according to the Production schedule to ensure adequate inventory of necessary items.
    • Create and publish daily production schedules according to the store orders and estimations.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Warehouse or Food Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Team players to achieve overall goals.
  • Proficiency in technology skills with applications, especially in Microsoft Suite.
  • Self-starter with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform redundant tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be available to work Overtime upon request.
  • Knowledge of GMP's and food manufacturing principles a plus.
  • Bilingual (English with Spanish) is beneficial.

Working Conditions: This role requires a significant amount of movement to meet production rates. An individual in this role will be working with various types of food. They will also operate production equipment upon request. The position will require general physical movements such as walking, standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Environmental conditions include cold, wet, allergen, noise, and fumes / chemical / odor exposure from raw materials and sanitation chemicals.
