Position Summary
The Utility position plays a crucial role on our shop floor, assisting the production team with prefabrication tasks and ensuring the fabrication department is set up for success. This role involves operating various equipment and tools to fabricate, assemble, and prepare components to meet specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and excels in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Operate saws, drill presses, grinders, and other machinery to cut, shape, and prepare materials.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and drawings to determine cutting requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools for component assembly and fabrication.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of debris, adhering to 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Able to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing, with team members, vendors and customers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience performing routine maintenance operations and working with hand tools, specifically with industrial saws
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic math and accurate measuring skills

Experience
  • 2 + years proven experience as a saw operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Other Requirements
  • This position works in a production facility and is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands and have finger dexterity
  • Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and crouch occasionallyโ€ข
