Operator II

Location: Scarborough, ME
Work Setting: On-site
Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Employment Type: Contract
Overtime: Hours worked over 40 per week are paid at time and a half.


Job Summary

We are seeking an Operator II to support the production of high-quality cardiovascular medical devices in a manufacturing environment. This position involves detailed assembly, equipment operation, inspection, testing, documentation, and packaging while following established procedures and quality standards.

Depending on the assigned work area, you may perform electronic, mechanical, casting/coating, or packaging-related assembly. Some areas may operate in a controlled cleanroom environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Assemble medical devices and related components according to documented procedures.
  • Perform detailed mechanical and/or electronic assembly and operate manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Use tools and equipment such as microscopes, hand tools, razor blades, syringes, soldering equipment, and adhesive bonding materials, depending on the work area.
  • Perform visual inspections and precision measurements on components and assemblies.
  • Test units using computerized test equipment.
  • Repair or correct devices and components using microscopes and applicable tools.
  • Package finished devices and ensure all components and required documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Maintain accurate production, traveler, shop floor, traceability, and quality documentation.
  • Clean tools and equipment according to documented procedures.
  • Follow safety guidelines and properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste materials.
  • Identify production issues and notify the Supervisor or Lead when problems cannot be readily corrected.
  • Monitor supplies and materials and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Help maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, or production experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written English procedures.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively in English.
  • Comfortable using electronic data collection systems and computer software.
  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to work with small components and parts.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage work based on sequencing and importance.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience with medical device manufacturing, cleanroom environments, microscopes, precision assembly, inspection, or similar detailed manufacturing work is a plus.
