Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator for a food production facility in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor production machinery used to manufacture nutrition bars, protein bars, baked snacks, and chocolate-molded products. This is a Monday-Friday schedule with consistent hours.
Pay: $19.00/hr
Schedule: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts, predictable rotating schedule.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Primary workplace language(s): English, Spanish, French, Swahili, Dari (employees able to translate one or more languages to English receive an additional 1$/hr)
Work Environment: Food Production Facility
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate production machinery on packaging and conveyor systems according to established procedures.
  • Monitor production line speeds and adjust machine settings to maintain consistent output targets
  • Conduct quality checks on finished products to verify they meet weight, dimension, and appearance specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues using hand tools.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards throughout each shift.
  • Inspect equipment before and after production runs and document any issues.
  • Assemble products and handle materials using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Sort and remove non-conforming product from the line and segregate rejects appropriately

Minimum Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience as a machine operator, production operator, line operator, equipment operator, packaging machine operator, assembly operator, process operator, or similar hands-on production role.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating, monitoring, or adjusting production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyor systems, assembly equipment, or manufacturing line equipment.
  • Experience working in a production, manufacturing, food production, packaging, assembly, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols.
  • Experience working with packaging equipment or conveyor systems.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, technical manuals, and safety documentation.
  • Basic math skills for measuring, counting, and verifying product specifications.
