Job Summary:

8 Tone Crane Operator/Underground Labourer

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, the primary role of Crane Operator is to operate an 8Ton Broderson safely driving, rigging, and operating a compact industrial carry deck crane to lift and transport materials in confined or restricted work

Salary Range: $125,500 - $150,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid

Boom Truck Operator

The Underground Labourer will handle the supply of material on surface and to various underground locations using a rubber tired diesel boom truck or other approved types of equipment.  When required he/she will also assist the mining crews with various underground tasks such as scaling, loading faces, the installation of services and related construction tasks, which will provide additional on-the-job training and career advancement opportunities.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid

8 Ton Crane Operator/Underground Labourer

Education: 

  • Mobile Crane Operator 0-8 Ton Training certificate required, such as P930030 or similar
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) 

  • Underground experience (preferred)


Work Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of crane operating experience in open pit or mining related industry
  •  Operate 8Ton Broderson cranes


Knowledge Required 

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Physical stamina to work long hours in challenging conditions, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects
  • Attention to detail and ability to detect and resolve equipment malfunctions and maintenance issues
  • Good communication skills to interact with other team members and supervisors effectively
  • Respectful of cultural differences


Boom Truck Operator:

Education 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred) 

  • Basic literacy (read, write, basic math) required

Work Experience

  • Transferable skills (preferred)

Knowledge Required 

  • Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.

  • Ability to multi task and work effectively 

  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently

  • Respectful of cultural differences

8 Ton Crane Operator/Underground Labourer

  • Operate Crane: Maneuver the 8-ton pick-and-carry crane using multi-wheel steering modes (2-wheel, 4-wheel, and crab steering) in tight indoor or outdoor industrial environments
  • Lifting and Transporting: Lift, move, and position loads up to 8 tons (or carry loads on the rubber deck) using telescoping boom and hoisting mechanisms.
  • Communicate clearly & effectively through the use of radio, hand signals, and/or other systems
  • Rigging: Secure loads properly using standard rigging gear, slinging, and signal communication
  • Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation checks, monitor fluid levels, lubricate parts, and report mechanical issues
  • Assist with the planning and direction of workers in lift plans.
  • Responsible to ensure and maintain adequate rigging supplies.
  • Maintain a clean & clear workspace
  • Follow site safety protocols, adhere strictly to rated capacity limiter charts, and work alongside spotters when navigating tight spaces
  • Participate in safety toolbox talks and follow all site policies & procedures to ensure compliance; and
  • Duties may include operating other machinery as required.

Boom Truck Operator:

  • Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas

  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities

  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock at construction sites

  • Assist miners in excavating and in setting up and operating various drills and other mining machinery

  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment

  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five-Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
