Gardening/Landscape Team Leader

About the Role
Sakura Gardens is seeking a motivated and experienced Team Leader to oversee garden maintenance and installation projects. This hands-on role involves supervising a small crew (2-5 members), ensuring work quality, and providing excellent client service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and work alongside the team in tasks like planting, pruning, mulching, and garden installations.
  • Operate landscaping tools and equipment (e.g., trimmers, blowers, small machinery).
  • Manage site setup, including digging, planting, occasional flagstone and 2-man armour stone installations.
  • Oversee daily tasks, ensuring safety standards and quality results.
  • Train new team members and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Coordinate schedules, track projects, and use job management software.
  • Communicate with clients and address inquiries professionally.
  • Perform equipment maintenance and manage inventory.
  • Drive company vehicles and handle occasional errands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (horticulture education preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of landscaping experience, with 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Availability from March to December (weather permitting).
  • Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with flagstone and 2-man armour stone installation is an asset.
  • Valid G2 driver’s license with reliable transportation.
  • Experience with technology & team management software is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage: $26-$34 (based on experience).
  • Allowances for phone, uniform, tools and education.
  • Tax, EI, and CPP deductions apply.
  • Team members must provide their own small tools.
