Graphite Machinist - Be a part of a new exciting opportunity. Our new Graphite facility will be located in Madison Heights, MI.
SUMMARY
The role of the Graphite Machinist is to carry out the responsibilities of the Graphite Machine Operations division at the direction of the Graphite Machine Manager. The Graphite Machine Operations group is responsible for the delivery of quality product, within specifications and tolerances of the customer requirements, in a timely and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely manufacture graphite electrodes.
  • Optimize the use of graphite and graphite remnant inventory to minimize product waste.
  • Assist co-workers when necessary.
  • Properly record time in order to predictably manage cost and time.
  • Accurately post material and time to a given job.
  • Meet or improve upon quoted machine operations times.
  • Keep work environment clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety rules
  • Machine maintenance.
  • Report all equipment issues to the Graphite Machine Manager.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
  • Any other responsibilities required for the Graphite Machine Operations division to successfully accomplish its goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to follow and carry out directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Basic math skills in Algebra & Trigonometry.
  • Ability to use and read Inspection & Measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of all shop equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine issue

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two-year technical degree or 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
