Job Summary

In order to apply, any successful candidate must be a carded Forming Journeymen Operator. Verification is required.
In operating forming machines, the basic responsibility of Operators is to make quality ware at maximum efficiency producing all types of glassware.

MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


TYPICAL DUTIES:
Swab molds and mold equipment as necessary. Oil moving parts of machine when necessary. Make frequent general check of finished ware. Make periodic detailed inspection of finished ware using scales to determine proper weight of glass and gauges to determine proper dimensions. May receive complaints from Lehr Foreman when excessive bad ware is being produced. Establish cause for defects in finished product, such as poor glass conditioning or machine malfunctions. Make adjustments to air pressure, deflector, mechanical and/or computerized timing devises; water, gas and oil lines; minor adjustments to feeder equipment and other adjustments as required. Notify Feeder Man when major adjustments or repairs to shears and/or other feeder equipment are required. Notify Upkeepman when unable to correct ware defects. Help Upkeepman and work with Job Change Man on all mold and machine changes. May be required to make partial mold and equipment changes with or without help of Job Change Man. Notify Upkeepman or Foreman of any malfunctions of equipment or production delay between forming machine and lehr. Remove jams on conveyors or stackers when necessary. Report defective machines, equipment, molds, tools, and bad glass to foreman as soon as discovered. Report machine activity, item information and other data as required on Operator's Report Card. Maintain clean work area.
