About the Job
 

Teaching (approximately 80%):
Teach structural mechanics and design courses at the undergraduate and graduate level
Prepare well organized course plans and deliver courses clearly to students
Participate in curricular development including development of new courses and redesign of current courses
Mentor students both inside and outside the classroom
Support the Universitys goal of creating a positive and inclusive campus climate for all by advancing equity, diversity, and social justice
Maintain a consistent and positive student teaching evaluation record


Service (approximately 20%):
Participate in ongoing professional activities in one's discipline
Manage the departments 1-year Masters degree program

Qualifications
 


Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree and relevant experience from an accredited university in a relevant field
Demonstrate high command of relevant subject matter
Effective oral and written communication skills appropriate to the position
College-level teaching experience (graduate TA experience acceptable) or professional experience in a relevant field
Experience teaching in the structural engineering discipline
Experience managing a Masters program
Preferred Qualifications:
Effective teaching and pedagogy skills appropriate to the position
Licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) or commitment to obtaining licensure when eligible
Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups

About the Department
 

The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering (CEGE) at the University of Minnesota is a mid-sized department dedicated to conducting cutting-edge theoretical, computational, and experimental research in all areas related to Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering, with noted excellence in the areas of water resources and environmental engineering. The department features state-of-the-art experimental facilities, including multiple excellent core facilities (imaging, genomics, research computing, etc.) and the Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory (https://cse.umn.edu/safl), a unique and globally recognized facility for pioneering research in experimental and computational fluid mechanics, hydrology, geophysics, and (micro)biology. Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience 

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
