Job description

Rivermatrix Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer with experience developing and deploying machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions within secure, high-performance computing environments. The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, build, and optimize scalable AI/ML capabilities that support mission-critical applications.
This position requires strong software engineering fundamentals combined with hands-on experience developing machine learning solutions, integrating open-source AI frameworks, and deploying models into production environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the entire machine learning lifecycle-from data ingestion and preparation through model training, evaluation, deployment, and operational support.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting AI/ML capabilities.
Develop and deploy machine learning models using modern Python-based frameworks.
Integrate, fine-tune, and optimize Hugging Face transformer models for mission applications.
Build and maintain data science workflows supporting data ingestion, preparation, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
Develop scalable ETL pipelines to process structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
Work with data lakes and large datasets to support analytics and machine learning initiatives.
Deploy AI/ML applications using containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and systems engineers to transition research into operational capabilities.
Evaluate information retrieval techniques and improve search, ranking, and retrieval performance.
Optimize model performance, inference speed, and resource utilization across distributed computing environments.
Develop software that integrates with databases and enterprise data platforms.
Support cluster-based computing environments, including job scheduling and workload management.
Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements across AI/ML systems.
