Description
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Ensure quality of products by completing the approved training matrix and on-the-job training conducted by the Filler Operator. Operates pouch forming and filling machines. Monitors and tracks fill weights, temperatures, pouch codes. Will complete rework of pouches during production and the relief for breaks and lunches of the Filler Operators on both lines. Stage materials needed for production in both lines, i.e., film, labels, printer ribbon etc. Tracks lot numbers for materials used in production and fill out appropriate paperwork. Shall become competent in a timely manner of learning all CIP/COP and all sanitation in a manner that is outlined in our SOP program. Learn with other operators the implementation and support MES system.
Support and ensure compliance with all programs, policies, and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Fulfill assigned food safety and regulatory responsibilities in accordance with the SQF Food Safety Code, including promptly reporting any concerns to initiate corrective action. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and EOS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Completes production, quality, and sanitation paperwork. Follows approved procedures while operating a filling machine forming and filling pouches.
2. Shall be able to identify CCP's and understands variance procedures. Also, ensures pouch quality based on MSP specifications.
3. Shall set up the fillers, metal detectors, check weighers and pouch coders and ensure accuracy for optimum performance during product startups and product changeovers.
4. Performs setup and adjustments to check weighers, metal detectors and X-ray units, and temperature control devices, while in operation. Will complete rework for both filling rooms during production and fill out and turn in any associated paperwork when complete.
5. Know how to read, understand, and follow the MSP.
6. Uses an HMI for tracking weights and machine output data.
7. Complete start up sheets for all products.
8. Monitor and perform COP/CIP/GMP's of filling room and all associated areas.
9. Changes film rolls while eliminating waste of film safely using a forklift and lift cart.
10. Performs preventative maintenance as prescribed in machine operation manuals.
11. Follows approved procedures completing CIP/COP of filling machines, room sanitation. Ensures all safety equipment is used during CIP/COP, gloves, safety glasses, face shield and wash down rain suit.
12. Completes production, quality and sanitation paperwork.
13. Follows all meal and rest period policies and works cohesively with other Operators to relieve for meal/rest periods as well as take them as required.
14. Performs other duties as needed or assigned by Supervisor or Line Lead.

Education Level and Focus:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Willingness to continue education through approved courses or classes that will enhance personal and professional growth.
Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
Food processing experience in a technically advanced facility preferred.

Technical and Analytical:
Operator must have basic math skills, process equipment problem solving aptitude, mechanical aptitude, ability to operate a forklift, computer literate using word, excel, procedure templates and possess good writing skills. Aptitude for detailed documentation of operation including down time, film usage, fill volume, fill temperature, and seal integrity.
Administration and Operations:
Operator has aptitude for detailed documentation of the batching, CIP/COP/GMP and room sanitation processes and procedures; able to implement and apply time management skills and procedures to define the batching process to be efficient and cost effective.
Physical Demands:
Agile, standing for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 50+ lbs., climbing stairs, ability to work various shifts.
Work Environment:
Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift traffic. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Special Equipment Used:
Pouch filling machines, lift cart, high pressure wash station, portable foaming unit, computer, metal detectors, and check weight machines. General maintenance tools for COP/CIP equipment and required hand tools.
