Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires command of the English language. Also requires knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations, as well as general needs and behaviors of students and students' recreational activities involving sports, games, arts and crafts.This position requires knowledge of basic record keeping/inventory methods and techniques; as well as basic store/concessions operations; skill to understand and carry out directions in an independent manner; ability to quickly learn to effectively operate and maintain cash register and designated food service machine/equipment; ability to train supervise student workers; and knowledge to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Must possess the ability to understand the needs of high school students and to effectively relate to these needs in a learning or recreational situation; learn the requirements of students in specific learning programs to which assigned; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; supervise students in a variety of situations; establish and maintain accurate classroom records and files; operate standard office equipment including computer keyboarding, copy machines, tape recorders and projectors; maintain calm and patience in stressful situations; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. 

Must possess the skill to establish and maintain a variety of records and logs; maintain an appropriate inventory of stock on hand, communicate effectively orally and in writing; effectively organize and prioritize work load for self and others; ability to meet physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties; establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

One year of general clerical experience, preferably including experience in retail sales, or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and skill.

Upon placement in the position, the employee will obtain, if not already in possession of, a Food Safety Certificate. 

   A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

 Completion of the twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college level courses. 

AA DEGREE OR TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE COURSE WORK IS REQUIRED. A COPY OF THE DEGREE OR TRANSCRIPTS SHOWING COMPLETION OF AT LEAST 48 SEMESTERS UNITS OR 72 QUARTER UNITS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.

DUTIES OF POSITION: Assist a certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision and training of an individual or group of students by providing a variety of instructional support, student care activities, and related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment.  Under supervision, employees in this classification provide a variety of responsible instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment within the District and require a high degree of positive contact with both students and certificated staff.

STARTING SALARY:              $2,691.59 (monthly)

NUMBER OF MONTHS:         9.4 (to begin as soon as possible)

NUMBER OF HOURS:            7 (daily working hours 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
