Job description

JOB SUMMARY This internship consists of various Human Resources functions. The purpose of this position is to allow the Intern to gain valuable insight and experience into Municipal Government Human Resources. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this classification.

Specific duties listed may not be required for all positions in this classification, but are determined by the normal requirements for this particular position.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES (100%) Prepare new hire orientation packets. Assist with maintenance of employee files. Assist with recruitment and benefit related functions.

Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department. Audit employee files to meet compliance standards. Assist with Public Safety Promotional Process development and implementation.

Participate and assist with special HR projects. Must act discretely when working with highly confidential Human Resources information. Attend HR Department meetings as needed.

Attends job fairs and hiring events. Other tasks/projects assigned by Human Resources Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate students and graduate students will be considered.

Strong interest in Human Resources. Coursework in Human Resources/Organizational Psychology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong communication, organizational, analytical, relationship building. Attention to detail and teamwork skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), ADP HRIS a plus.

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently. Must be well organized and possess good follow-up skills.

Prior office experience preferred. Pleasant personality with the ability to interact well with other team members. Must be available for a minimum of twenty (20) hours a week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The following requirements are normal for this classification.
