Machine Learning Engineer Part Time information

How do part-time Machine Learning Engineers typically balance project ownership with limited working hours?

Part-time Machine Learning Engineers often focus on well-defined project segments, collaborating closely with full-time team members to ensure alignment and continuity. Clear communication, thorough documentation, and regular check-ins are key to maintaining progress and integrating their contributions seamlessly. While they may not own entire projects, they often take responsibility for specific modules, models, or experiments, and their schedules are usually coordinated to overlap with team meetings or sprints. This structure allows part-time engineers to add significant value while maintaining a manageable workload.

What is the difference between Machine Learning Engineer Part Time vs Data Scientist Part Time?

Machine Learning Engineer Part Time focuses on developing and deploying ML models, while Data Scientist Part Time emphasizes analyzing data to extract insights. Both roles often require similar educational backgrounds and may work in overlapping industries, but their core responsibilities differ. Understanding these distinctions helps job seekers target the right position based on their skills and career goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Machine Learning Engineer Part Time, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Machine Learning Engineer Part Time, you need strong programming skills (especially in Python), a solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, and ideally a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud platforms, as well as experience with version control systems like Git, is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and clear communication are valuable soft skills for collaborating on projects and conveying technical concepts. These skills ensure effective development, deployment, and optimization of machine learning models within the constraints of a part-time role.

What is a Machine Learning Engineer (Part Time)?

A Machine Learning Engineer (Part Time) is a professional who designs, builds, and implements machine learning models and algorithms, but works fewer hours than a full-time employee—often on a flexible or project-based schedule. These engineers collaborate with data scientists and software developers to integrate intelligent systems into products or services. Part-time roles are ideal for those seeking work-life balance, students, or professionals supplementing their income. Responsibilities may include data preprocessing, model training, and deployment, but the scope is typically tailored to fit part-time hours.

Job description

Who We Are:

NCSY Canada is dedicated to inspiring Jewish teens to connect deeply with their identity, their people, and their Torah. Through dynamic programming—Shabbatons, clubs, trips, learning initiatives, and one-on-one relationships—we create life-changing experiences for thousands of teens across the region.

Torah High provides accredited Jewish studies education to public school students, offering them the opportunity to earn credits while engaging meaningfully with Torah learning in a relevant, real-world way.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

Postion Overview:

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in building meaningful relationships with Jewish teens while supporting the development and execution of impactful NCSY programming.

This role combines hands-on program leadership with relationship-building (“kiruv”), helping teens strengthen their Jewish identity, deepen connections, and engage in transformative experiences.

Through both direct engagement and program excellence, the Program Coordinator helps expand NCSY’s reach and impact across the community.

This position runs from September 2026 through June 2027 and is based in the Greater Toronto Area with a hybrid schedule and required travel.

Responsibilities:

Teen Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build authentic, ongoing relationships with Jewish teens across schools and programs
  • Serve as a positive Jewish role model and mentor
  • Create welcoming, inclusive environments for teens of all backgrounds
  • Maintain appropriate communication with teens and, where relevant, parents

Program Planning & Execution

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of NCSY programs including:
  • Weekly clubs and events
  • Shabbatons and retreats
  • Summer and special programs
  • Play an active, hands-on role during programs (facilitation, logistics, engagement)
  • Contribute ideas to enhance program creativity, relevance, and impact

Program Excellence & Growth

  • Track participation, engagement, and program outcomes
  • Support continuous improvement through feedback and reflection
  • Contribute to increasing student reach and strengthening program quality

Operations & Administration

  • Complete administrative responsibilities accurately and on time (attendance tracking, expenses, data entry)
  • Support logistical coordination including scheduling, materials, and communications
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure smooth program delivery

Team & Organizational Contribution

  • Act as a role model by upholding NCSY’s values, policies, and professional standards
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development
  • Share insights, successes, and opportunities for growth with leadership

Additional Expectations:

  • Attend programs and events, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel
  • Teach Torah High classes, as assigned
  • Work from the office or designated workspace, as required
  • Support additional initiatives as needed

Who You Are:

  • Passion for Jewish youth engagement and education
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Organized, proactive, and adaptable
  • Comfortable working evenings/weekends

Why Join NCSY Canada?

  • Make a real impact in teens’ lives
  • Be part of a mission-driven, values-aligned team
  • Grow as a leader, educator, and mentor
  • Experience a meaningful Jewish community and connection

The Details:

  • Open to both part-time and full-time candidates
  • Hybrid role based in Thornhill, with travel to programs and events across the GTA
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
  • Paid Jewish holidays
  • Short Fridays to accommodate Shabbat observance
