Location: Beaumont, TX

Metalforms was recently acquired by the TransTech Group, a leading provider of custom-engineered and fabricated solutions for liquids and gas processing, storage, transfer, and utilization across a broad range of industries including energy, petrochemical, specialty chemical, renewables, biofuels, and a variety of industrial process industries.

Job Summary

  • The Manual Machinist position is responsible for producing quality heat exchanger components by preparing, and operating a variety of manual machinery.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Complete boring, and turning operations while interpreting company prints and tolerances.
  • Calculate figures and amounts, such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Check measurements and allowable tolerances as dictated by blue prints or schematics.
  • Handle materials utilizing overhead cranes and motorized lift trucks.

Competencies

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of manual machining experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments, including measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial test indicators.
  • Safely handle material utilizing overhead cranes and motorized lift trucks.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to learn new processes and equipment.
  • Safely operate hand / power tools
  • Capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with a team

Preferred

  • Knowledge of heat exchangers
  • Experience operating Horizontal Boring Mill
  • Experience operating VTL's
  • Experience operating Manual Lathes

Work Environment

  • Position requires work in a large fabrication shop surrounded by constant welding and grinding, overhead crane movements, and multiple rotating pieces of machinery.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires constant mobility. Personnel need to be able to lift 50 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Metalforms operates three (3) standard shifts: Days (M-TH), Nights (M-TH), Weekends (F-SU) This position is for the Night shift
  • Availability to work on alternate shifts in cases of man power shortage is required.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manual Lathe Machine: 2 years (Required)
