Job description

Job Title: CNC Machinist

The Opportunity:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for machining precision optics using a variety of CNC machinery while following standard work instructions. As part of the Optical Manufacturing team, this role will play an integral part of the production lifecycle and have exposure to various optical manufacturing assignments.
Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture high precision optics on CNC manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturing documentation, process documentation and technical requirements, including blocking and unblocking optical materials
  • Ensure program check and verification methods are established for the work center
  • Interpret technical drawings and work instructions
  • Troubleshoot machine anomalies with the ability to Identify problems and escalate

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong math aptitude
  • Knowledge of Fagor, Fanuc, Siemens, HEIDENHAIN, or similar CNC control systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with hand tools, manual measurement tools, computer-controlled test equipment, windows Explorer, Excel, and Word
  • Previous experience with Mastercam or Vericut is a plus
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to speak up as appropriate while identifying and escalating issues as required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance

EHS/Environmental Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions, operate tools and/or machinery with hands and arms and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. The employee will use protective equipment to work with chemicals, move between workstations, reach, and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
ITC & Security Clearance Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
This position also requires U.S. citizenship in support of contract requirements. Additionally, if you are a dual citizen (a citizen of the U.S. and another country), the Company must obtain approval for you to have access to the information required for this position. You will not be able to begin employment until such approval is obtained, and this may take several months.
