Job Summary


Industrial Municipal Supply Co. (IMSCO) is hiring a Fitting Machine Operator to support our Manufacturing and Fabrication teams in Geismar, Louisiana. This hands-on role operates fitting machines used to produce HDPE fittings and related fabricated products for customer orders, in-house production, and field service support.


The ideal candidate is safety-minded, dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow work instructions and drawings, and the willingness to help across the shop when production needs change.


Primary Responsibilities


- Set up, operate, and monitor fitting machines in accordance with IMSCO manufacturing and safety procedures.

- Produce fittings accurately and efficiently based on work orders, drawings, measurements, and supervisor direction.

- Inspect finished work for correct dimensions, fit, quality, and visible defects before moving items to the next step.

- Keep fitting machines in safe working order by checking for hydraulic leaks, loose bolts, worn parts, fluid levels, and other maintenance concerns.

- Report machine issues, material concerns, unsafe conditions, or quality problems to a supervisor promptly.

- Follow lockout, power-down, PPE, housekeeping, and shop safety expectations at all times.

- Read and interpret basic drawings, measurements, and job instructions; ask questions when information is unclear.

- Operate a forklift or assist with material handling when properly trained and authorized.

- Sweep, clean, organize, and maintain the work area to reduce hazards and support efficient production.

- Assist other Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Operations team members during downtime or when priorities shift.


Qualifications


- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Previous machine operation, fabrication, manufacturing, warehouse, HDPE, pipe/fittings, or mechanical experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.

- Ability to follow instructions, stay organized, and complete work accurately.

- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fitting machine operation and preventive maintenance basics.

- Ability to use basic measurements and shop tools safely.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

- Dependable attendance, positive attitude, and willingness to work as part of a team.

- Forklift experience is a plus.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment


This role works in shop, warehouse, indoor, and outdoor environments with exposure to varying temperatures and normal manufacturing conditions. The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and working near other employees and equipment. Proper PPE may be required, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hard hat, gloves, FRC, mono goggles, and other task-specific safety equipment.
