Job description

The Potomac School's Athletic Department seeks a motivated individual to develop and coordinate administrative, operational, and social media processes for the successful support of department staff, coaches, and student-athletes. This vacancy is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics.
At the Potomac School, athletics, academics and the arts are at the core of a balanced educational experience and the overall development of our future students. We believe our core values of courage, integrity, humility, perseverance, and respect are acutely learned and honed through teamwork and athletic competition.
The 25 different interscholastic programs and 75 teams include, Intermediate school (7th and 8th grade) teams, Varsity teams and junior varsity teams. Varsity teams strive to compete at the highest levels while emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. At the junior varsity level, success in competition is encouraged, while skill building and participation are the primary goals. Girls teams compete in the 15-member Independent School League (ISL) and Boys teams compete in the 7-member Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all athletic rosters
  • Compile athletics related information for the weekly school newsletter
  • Greet and assist visitors
  • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, email, and mail
  • Establish, maintain, and reconcile uniform and equipment inventories, and oversee the maintenance of all inventory records for the department
  • Assist in determining the needs for purchase orders and acquisition of athletic clothing and equipment
  • Assist in game day equipment preparations and set up for games
  • Confirm all games with partner schools and officials
  • Work with the AD to lead the students on the Senior Athletic Committee
  • Work cooperatively with all team managers
  • Develop and curate engaging content for Athletics social media platforms
  • Attend events and produce live social media content.
  • Maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels
  • Take the lead on office tasks, including generating reports and presentations, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies
  • Manage our event database
  • Attend all calendar meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • An associate's degree required with a minimum of 2 years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Excel and Google slide deck proficiency
  • Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and management tools
  • Functional knowledge of social media usage
  • Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control
