DESCRIPTION
Summary:
Receives, stores and issues UIC service and manufacturing supplies and parts while compiling and maintaining stock records where appropriate. Also verifies, maintains records and prepares materials and parts for shipment in accordance with UIC packaging specifications.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming material to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.
  • Inputs requisition information into SAP or other systems to confirm that material has been received.
  • Selects appropriate locations for material according to identifying information such as style, size, type of material or part numbers.
  • Insures proper product identification throughout the receiving, storage, picking and shipping processes.
  • Assists in the perpetual inventory of stock through cycle counting and other verification procedures while verifying conformance to specifications to insure the integrity and protection of the parts.
  • Assists in the determination of methods for storage, identification and stock location giving consideration to height and weight limits, turn over, floor loading capacities and required space.
  • Will gain proficiency with fork trucks, hand trucks or OPRs (Order, Pick and Retrieve Vehicles) and other distribution equipment for the movement, storage and handling of service and/or manufacturing parts and supplies.
  • Uses a variety of technologies, including radio frequency (RF) equipment, carousel operation and barcoding.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of outgoing internal and external shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Also assists in the determination of methods of shipment.
  • May compile reports on the use or adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, damage to stock, location changes and refusal of shipments.
  • Selects and/or assembles wooden or cardboard containers, places parts into standard packaging containers, tapes or binds for closure, posts weights and shipping charges, and routes to appropriate locations.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to meet established specifications and packaging requirements.
  • Maintains inventory of department materials and supplies.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma and 0-1+ years of experience in a warehouse or production environment; Relative experience is welcomed.
  • The ability to utilize basic math for counting.
  • The ability to read and write and to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
  • The employee is frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration.
  • The employee must occasionally move heavy objects.
  • The noise level in this type of work environment is usually loud; where necessary, hearing protection equipment is provided.
  • Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.
