Job description

About the Company (St. John's Episcopal and at Lakehill Prep) We are looking to have this role start the first week of August
At Yay, lunch is our favorite subject. We're out to fundamentally change K-12 school food for the better - every student deserves a freshly made, wholesome meal they'll actually love, and every parent deserves to know their kid is cared for and nourished at school.
We're team players and self-starters who want you to love what you do, and we back that up with flexibility, transparency, respect, and a genuine amount of positivity. Come join us!
Position Overview
As a School Lunch Helper, Mornings Only, you're the person who makes lunchtime run like clockwork - and makes it fun while you're at it. You'll help get fresh, healthy meals into kids' hands with a smile, keep the grab-and-go looking sharp, and be one of the friendly faces students look forward to seeing every day. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely likes being around kids, shows up on time, and thrives in a fast, upbeat environment.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver the joy - Help distribute fresh lunches to students and keep the lunchtime flow smooth and positive
  • Be the friendly face - Bring warm, genuine energy to every interaction with students, school staff, and parents
  • Keep it running - Support student checkout, manage the grab-and-go display, and keep everything stocked, tidy, and looking good
  • Show up with heart - Positive attitude, reliable communication, and ownership of your shift, every time

What We're Looking For
  • Someone reliable, punctual, and easy to work with who genuinely enjoys being around kids
  • A friendly, outgoing personality that makes lunchtime feel welcoming
  • Available 2-3 hours a day (typically 9:30 AM-12:30 PM), Monday-Friday
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs on your own

Qualifications
  • Willing to learn, take direction, and be a real team player
  • A positive attitude and genuine interest in healthy food for kids
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to get it within your first 14 days)
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check (and any additional school-required certifications)
  • A smartphone for job-related communication
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance

What We Offer
  • A supportive, people-first team
  • Competitive hourly pay starting at $20/hour
  • Flexible scheduling - part-time or full-time options may be available
  • Room to grow within a mission-driven company
  • Predictable hours that actually support work-life balance
