Job description

Hop Lun is a global manufacturing leader specializing in Intimate Apparel, Swimwear, and Activewear. We partner with leading retailers and brands across all channels and market segments, including Target, Walmart, SKIMS, Aerie, VS/PINK, and Alo Yoga.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join our Product Development hub in Manhattan, supporting both new and existing accounts. This role works closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and overseas technical teams throughout the development cycle.

Position Summary

The Senior Technical Designer is a fit expert with excellent communication skills who understands garment construction, brand aesthetics, and price points. This role manages technical design responsibilities from adoption through fitting and production while ensuring brand standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of technical design functions from adoption through fitting and production
  • Learn requirements of multiple brands and ensure standards are met for both construction and fit
  • Attend all fit meetings and work with retail partners to achieve fits aligned with brand aesthetics and guidelines
  • Identify opportunities and offer solutions to improve fit and construction details for challenging styles
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining the integrity of fit and quality
  • Proactively communicate potential production issues to leadership and crossfunctional partners and advise on solutions
  • Build and manage a tracking system for all fit samples by customer and season; manage workinprogress and report to Production
  • Ensure grading standards are met by brand, account, and category; oversee grading for inhouse brands
  • Manage the fit process, including pattern corrections, sketch updates, and style comments
  • Work closely with internal and external design and product development teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Establish open communication and foster collaborative working relationships with Chinabased technical teams
  • Create and implement SOPs and best practices for Technical Design
  • Ensure timely communication with vendors and brands and adherence to development calendars
  • Qualifications
  • 810+ years of Technical Design experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Activewear
  • Additional experience in Intimate Apparel and Swimwear preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience with Gerber, Browzwear, and/or CLO preferred
  • Highly motivated and organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong problemsolving skills and ability to identify risks
  • Effective communication skills with factory and brand partners
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines, priorities, and workload
  • Expert eye for fit, garment construction, finishing, and overall aesthetics
  • Mandarin or Cantonese proficiency preferred
  • Work Location & Travel
  • Onsite position based in Manhattan, NY, five days per week
  • Travel required up to 1020% domestically and internationally
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual salary range: $90,000 $100,000, DOE
