Job description

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, is seeking two senior directors to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role will serve as senior campaign manager and strategist for a flagship energy technology client, leading a multi-state effort rapidly expanding in scope and scale.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial, highly responsive leader with a sharp understanding of political and policy landscapes across the country - someone with exceptional attention to detail who can operate as a trusted strategic advisor to client teams, anticipate needs, and elevate the impact of the work, while also inspiring and leading a team. This is a high-visibility opportunity to build, innovate, and establish yourself as a leader in the public affairs space.

Ideal candidates have experience in public affairs and issue advocacy, corporate campaign/coalition management, or managing field operatives or political campaigns.

This is a hybrid role based in our downtown DC office Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. The position requires occasional travel.

Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
  • Drive strategic integration across client workstreams, ensuring alignment between national objectives and in-state execution across a rapidly expanding footprint, while identifying opportunities to scale and evolve campaign strategy in real time and championing innovation in campaign tactics, including new approaches to stakeholder engagement, communications, and field activation.
  • Ensure consistency in narrative, messaging, and strategic positioning across all markets and channels.
  • Oversee rapid-response efforts tied to emerging political, policy, or media developments, ensuring the campaign remains agile and proactive.
Client Relationship & Counsel
  • Serve as a senior thought partner and day-to-day client contact, offering forward-looking counsel grounded in political insight, stakeholder dynamics, and campaign performance, while staying responsive to client needs and nurturing and growing the client relationship to support broader business goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Build and foster strong working relationships with client counterparts, external partners, and in-state stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and execution, including staffing client events that sometimes require travel, providing logistical and on-the-ground support.
  • Help identify and cultivate new growth opportunities within the client account, contributing to its long-term expansion.
Team & Field Management
  • Lead internal team alignment, motivating and inspiring LSG staff while ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and high performance.
  • Serve as LSG supervisor helping to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to LSG's managers and associates.
  • Manage LSG's 50-state network of field operatives specializing in media relations, government affairs, and grassroots mobilization for this dedicated client project, tracking client deliverables and driving field operatives to meet client needs, including guiding state strategy, advocate recruitment and engagement, etc.
Deliverables & Reporting
  • Establish and maintain best-in-class standards for responsiveness, quality control, and attention to detail across all deliverables and team outputs, including the development of high-quality communications materials - messaging documents, talking points, lawmaker letters, ad copy, and press materials such as press releases, op-eds, LTEs, social media content, etc.
  • Lead the development and delivery of client reporting (written and verbal), including the management of weekly reports, key metrics, and client presentations.
Business Development & Knowledge
  • Participate in the business development process by brainstorming, writing, and editing strategic plans and proposals for existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintain an active understanding of federal and state legislative and political landscapes, particularly across energy, technology, and more.
  • Maintain an active understanding of ongoing LSG clients and campaigns across the firm's practice areas to offer ongoing, relevant strategic support in coordination with LSG leadership.
Qualifications
  • At least 6-8 years in public affairs or communications working in corporate public affairs and communications, issue advocacy, corporate campaign/coalition management, or political campaigns.
  • Prior experience managing field operatives and grassroots mobilization campaigns is required.
  • Proven writing and editing capabilities to support the development of various high-quality materials, including proposals, PowerPoints, messaging materials, talking points, letters, op-eds/LTEs, social media content, media advisories, press releases, and corporate statements.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively, ensuring work product is relevant, inspiring, and impactful.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and deliverables efficiently through systems and proper communication.
Why You'll Love Working at LSG
