Job description

Salary: $23-25 per hour, DOE

LPR International is seeking a Commencement Services Representative to support our client in their Department of Commencement Services. The Office of Commencement Services plans and hosts the universitys commencements (also referred to as Grad Walk). Grad Walk is currently held twice a year (May and December). Our team works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure an exceptional experience for their graduates.


The Commencement Services Representative uses strong critical thinking and customer service skills and can clearly articulate verbally and in writing. This position is the departments first point of contact for a diverse population of adult graduates. A successful candidate should be confident, enthusiastic, and provide exceptional service to every student, staff, and faculty member during every interaction.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to student, staff, and faculty inquiries through phone, e-mail, in-person events, or other communication channels
  • Guide graduates by engaging in a consultative dialogue to explore and uncover graduate needs and/or concerns, address and overcome concerns, and research questions to solve problems on the students behalf
  • Provide accurate, valid, and complete information on a wide range of subjects, such as commencement eligibility, registration procedures, commencement/Grad Walk processes, ticketing, regalia and traditions, and important dates/deadlines
  • Present information in a professional, articulate, and confident manner
  • Demonstrate high-quality customer service throughout all student, staff, and faculty interactions
  • Liaison with other units, such as Graduation Services, and get back to students in a timely manner
  • Set and complete daily tasks to ensure students receive follow-up that meets service-level agreements
  • Accurately document, maintain, and track all student interactions using the universitys CRM system
  • Complete other duties assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience as an administrative assistant, virtual assistant, or customer service representative. Experience working in a contact center or other customer or student-focused environment with high call and email volume is preferred, but not required.


EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


OTHER:

  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a tea
  • Strong leadership experience and skills
  • Ability to multitask


KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient computer and customer service skills


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Walking and standing long hours during Grad Walk
  • Occasional light lifting (10 - 20 lbs)


EQUIPMENT:

  • UMGC will provide a laptop and headset for exclusive job-related use. All equipment must be returned to UMGC upon assignment completion.
