LPNs in this role may work for health insurance companies, disability insurers, or workers' compensation organizations. Their responsibilities can include conducting medical reviews, verifying treatments for coverage eligibility, and assisting with case management. This role combines medical expertise with administrative and analytical tasks to support claims processing and policy evaluations.

What types of daily responsibilities can I expect as an LPN in an insurance setting?

As an LPN working in insurance, your day-to-day responsibilities typically include reviewing medical claims, verifying patient information, and assessing clinical documentation to ensure claims meet policy and regulatory guidelines. You may communicate with healthcare providers to gather additional patient information, collaborate with claims adjusters, and assist in medical necessity determinations. The role often involves a mix of independent review and teamwork, with a strong emphasis on utilizing electronic records and insurance software. This position offers a structured office environment with opportunities to expand into roles such as medical reviewer or case manager as you gain experience.

To succeed as an LPN in insurance, you need a valid LPN license, a solid understanding of clinical nursing, and familiarity with health insurance practices.
